My favorite works of art #1
The day started off with a cup of tea and some toast. I wrapped myself up in a blanket to escape the cold air of the morning. I think I am too used to warm weather climates. It really only is 16 degrees c in the morning…I shouldn’t be that cold. In fact, I actually really like cold weather, the feeling of crisp chilly air on my face and wearing soft socks to avoid my feet from turning purple. So anyway, while I was thinking somehow I came up with this idea:
I have decided to work on a mini project for myself. The question was “what are my favorite pieces of art.”
After watching the youtube channel “The art assignment” I realized that I had found a lot of pieces of art to be cool, but I never put very much thought into them. So I went on the search for interesting pieces of art, did a little research, drank a lot of tea, and finally, I had a lot of fun finding art that genuinely enjoyed and felt a positive energy from.
#1 “The Great Wave off Kanagawa”
So, When I found the piece of art on the youtube channel, I was immediately reminded of my elementary school project that I did in 3rd grade with tinfoil. If you do not know about this beautiful work, I’ll give you some details. First of all, the great wave painting was actually a woodblock print which means it was first drawn on a piece of thin paper (washi) and then it was glued down on a plank of wood, and then the wood would be carved into following the outlines of the drawing. After that, It is covered with ink. Finally, a paper would be pressed against it leaving the ink printed onto it with the design that was carved onto the wood.
Well, 3rd grade me most likely wasn’t paying attention to the history of this beautiful artwork, but the craftsmanship and concentration must have been demanding, and I’m really happy I found it again.
Okay, I hope whoever reads this has a good day. I will be adding more art posts later on this month.🌼 |
